Omowale Clay of the December 12th Movement give directions for
orderly march to community celebrating Malcolm X -El Haj Malik Shabazz’
84th Birthday. All shops were asked to close from 1-4pm in memory of Brother Malcolm,
those who didn’t close were closed by the demonstrators.

Many marchers carried the Red, Black & Green “African Liberation Flag” originated by
Marcus Garvey in 1919, resurrected by Carlos A. Cooks of the African Nationalist
Pioneer Movement in 1941 and promoted by the ANPM throughout, and adopted by Malcolm and
others in the 1960’s

The march passes the former Hotel Theresa, where Brother Malcolm
welcomed Fidel Castro in 1960

The first stop was the Starbucks on 125th Street and Adam Clayton Powell, jr. Blvd.
which was filled with some of Harlem’s “new white residents” who quickly left when
the marchers arrived

Demonstrators scared the Devil out of Angels’ store owners who hurried to pull
the gate down and close, as crowd approached.

Egg on his face at a Cheesey Joint
Omowale Clay questions store manager about a reported assault that occurred in his
St. Nicholas Aveue Deli where a elderly Black man was allegedly insulted and punched in the
stomach for demanding his penny change.
We’ll have more on this incident as soon as we investigate.

No Mannas
Man who is reported to be the son of the owner of Mannas Restaurant reluctantly
closed after defiantly taunting the demonstrators beckoning them to come in.

Customers left Mannas restaurant when told of the requested closing
in honor of Malcolm X’s 84th birthday.

Who the hell are these people to coerce others into closing their stores for any cause? Malcolm X was a great man, it’s a shame to see his name get hijacked by some bourgeois busy bodies hopped up on Naomi Klein.
